How BBL BroadBand Light Can Turn Back the Clock on Your Skin?

How BBL BroadBand Light Can Turn Back the Clock on Your Skin

People judge people by appearance, so it makes sense to want clear, healthy skin. Many creams and lotions claim to make the skin look better, but they can’t reach the deeper layers.

The aging process happens in these deeper layers of skin, so a more targeted approach is needed to stop the clock on aging.

Our staff at Sheperd Integrative Dermatology can tell you everything you need to know about BroadBand Light skin treatments and how they can make your skin feel clean.

Check out this post to learn more details about this matter.

The Trend About BBL

BroadBand Light skin treatment has been getting more and more popular. But what is it, and how does it work? For those new to the therapy, BBL is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses pulsed light to give you skin that looks younger.

Light rays are sent into the deepest layers of your skin during treatments. This helps reduce the look of hyperpigmentation, wakes up your skin, and boosts your body’s natural ability to fight signs of aging.

At your first appointment with our medical aesthetician and the rest of the team at Sheperd Integrative Dermatology, we’ll look at your skin and develop a unique treatment plan to help you reach your skin goals! Let’s see how BBL works precisely below.

How Does BBL Work?

First, it’s essential to know that BBL is not a laser treatment. Instead, it uses intense pulses of light that can be changed in many ways to treat many skin problems. Acne, rosacea, age spots, sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven tone and texture, and so much more can all be treated with BBL.

The device gives off photothermal energy with a broad spectrum. This makes the skin red because it absorbs the skin’s brown pigment (melanin). As the top layers of skin absorb the light’s heat and energy, pigmented skin cells are killed, and blood vessels in the area close up.

The energy and heat from the light also start a natural wound-healing process that makes new cells and more collagen.

What To Expect From This Treatment?

We start by taking pictures of your skin. Then, we clean your skin, protect your eyes, and put a clear gel on the area that will be treated.

Once your skin is ready, experts move the BBL device over your skin several times while it flashes light on your skin. The light gets into your skin and hurts the pigment, the tissue, or the blood vessels.

Your body will try to fix the damage, making the spots or wrinkles look less harmful. BBL treatment is not done with a laser. Instead of the more focused light of a laser, it uses short bursts of very bright light.

Laser treatments use only one wavelength of light. Still, BBL uses a wide range of light that you can filter in different ways to treat other conditions. It can also treat more skin than a laser can.

After the treatment, we put sunscreen on the skin to keep it from getting too hot.

How Long Does it Take To Get a BBL Treatment?

It takes about 15 minutes to do a BBL treatment.

What Do BBL Treats?

BBL treats age spots (liver spots), sun damage, redness, broken facial blood vessels, wrinkles, and dull skin. You can treat these conditions and the effects of rosacea. It can also make freckles and birthmarks look better. The treatment can be done on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands, among other places.

Who’s Ideal for BBL Therapy?

BBL works best on lighter skin tones. People with darker skin should stay away from BBL because their darker pigment absorbs too much light, which can cause dark spots (hyperpigmentation) to show up.

Most people in Wisconsin don’t get treatment in the summer because their skin is tanned. They usually get three treatments yearly, in October, January, and right before summer.

Our experts will discuss your treatment goals and look at your skin during your first appointment. We help you develop the best treatment plan for your skin tone and way of life.

What Else To Know About BBL?

This skin care treatment approved by the FDA is still relatively new, so you have some questions! We’re here to help at Sheperd Integrative Dermatology. Here are some of the most common questions about BroadBand Light treatment for the skin.

Does BBL Only Needs One Session?

BBL is NOT just a one-time treatment. Even though your treatment plan will be made just for you based on your needs, most people need four treatments a year.

What Can BBL Help With?

Anywhere! The best thing about BBL is that it can improve any part of your body.

How About The Treatment Downtime?

After treatment, the treated area and the area around it may be red. There may also be some mild swelling for a day or two. But once your appointment is over, you can put on makeup, go to work, and return to your everyday life.

Will Insurance Cover This Method?

Insurance does NOT pay for this treatment. But if you look at how happy our patients are after treatment, it’s well worth the money!

Is BBL Safe For All?

The procedure is safe for people whose skin is light and hasn’t been tanned. Since melanin absorbs light, people with olive or brown skin are more likely to get burned, lose or gain color, or get scars.

Chemical peels and some types of laser treatment are safer ways for people with more melanin to improve the look of their skin.

Side Effects & Aftercare Suggestions

As was already said, the BBL treatment doesn’t hurt you, so there are no dangerous side effects. But it is common for patients to get red right after the treatment, but this will go away in just a few hours.

Even though it’s unnecessary, some people find it more comfortable to put ice packs on the treated area. If you got BBL to treat hyperpigmentation (brown spots), you could expect the places to get darker before peeling after a few days.

In rare cases, there could be a bit of swelling, especially if the procedure was done near the eyes. Remember that you don’t need to worry because this is a normal part of the process and will stop in a few days.

Also, it is best to avoid drinking alcohol, staying in the sun for a long time, and doing hard work for the first few days after the treatment. This is done to reduce the chance of getting a bruise or having too much swelling.

As soon as the slight redness and swelling disappear, you’ll notice that your skin is firmer, tighter, and smoother, and the pores are smaller.

Most importantly, patients should do what their doctors tell them to do since the results can vary based on each person’s needs.
